The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Tuesday described the test as an indispensable stage on the “normal course,” also taken by other countries to develop a two-stage fission-fusion hydrogen bomb.“The test was neither to threaten anyone, nor to provoke someone for a certain purpose,” the KCNA said.The move was mainly aimed at providing a “sure guarantee” of Pyongyang’s immunity from any assault by hostile forces, including the United States, it added.North Korean technicians and scientists “are in high spirit to detonate H-bombs of hundreds of kilotons and megatons, capable of wiping out the whole territory of the US all at once” if threatened, the news agency said.On January 6, North Korea said it had successfully conducted its first hydrogen bomb test. The country also vowed to continue developing its nuclear program as a means of deterrence against potential acts of aggression from the US. -

he Korean People's Army constitutes the military defence forces of North Korea. Kim Jong-un is the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army and Chairman of both the Central Military Commission and National Defence Commission. The KPA defence consists of five branches: Ground Force, the Navy, the Air Force, the Strategic Rocket Forces, and the Special Operation Force. The Worker-Peasant Red Guards also come under control of the KPA. The KPA faces its primary adversaries, the Republic of Korea Armed Forces and United States Forces Korea, across the Korean Demilitarized Zone, as it has since the Armistice Agreement of July 1953. As of 2013, with 9,495,000 active, reserve, and paramilitary personnel, it is the fourth largest military organization on Earth.

Police arrested singer Rekha Shah and her husband on the complaint for issuing threats. Kathmandu police arrested the two after Subas Raj Kafle complained with police, accusing the singer of Simsime Panima fame and her husband of issuing threats to him. The two had given loan to Sandip Raj Kafle, son of Subas, for gambling in the casino, according to police. They had approached Subas seeking loan repayment after Sandip went out of contact, unable to pay back the loan.
